Physiotherapist

 

Physiotherapist helps to maintain independence and rehabilitate patients so they can have an acceptable quality of life. For example;

 

 

  •  Helping to  minimise pressure sores in those that are bed bound for long periods of time.

 

  • Helping with mobility by devising activities to improve tolerance of exercise as well as maintain mobility.

 

  •  Devising  exercise activities to patients because in cancer patients, fatigue is a common side effect as a result of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. This provides a method of reducing this side effec to enable patients to be able to go about their daily life. Furthermore, exercise also help maintain muscle power to prolong independence of patients

 

  •   Managing pain in patients by providing massage, TENS stimulation or cold and heat stimulation.

 

  •  Managing breathlessness by changing the position of patients, educating patients on breathing exercises to reduce respiratory effort and strategies to help patients manage anxiety associated with breathlessness.

 

  • Provision of splints and neck collars to support weakened muscles/ intervene with posture

 

  • Providing source of psychogical support to patients
