It is estimated at least two thirds of people with cancer suffer from some form of pain, however a third of cancer patients do not experience any associated pain.

It  is a symptom which causes great concerns in patients, therefore good management of pain is vital in palliative care.     

A nuber of complications can arise if pain is not adquately managed. This includes developement of depression, anaxiety, poor quality of life, relationship problems and affecting social life.
