Drugs used in syringe drivers
Below are the common drugs used in syringe drivers, all information was obtained from the North Cumbria palliative care website;

Analgesics i.e. opioids and diamorphine is the opioid of choice because it is very soluble so larger amount can be given in smaller volume.1/3 of the oral morphine dose given in the last 24 hours can be given for the 24 hour subcutaneous dose of diamorphine.

Antiemetics i.e. haloperidol, cyclizine, metoclopramide and levomepromomazine

Sedatives i.e. midazolam

Antisecretory drugs i.e. hyoscine hydrobromide and glycopyrrolate
For pain
For nausea and vomiting
For drying of excess secretions
For terminal agitation and confusion
