Advantages:

More commonly found to be used (MS26) in the UK
Disadvantages:

Both smiths medical models do not possess a lock out period

MHRA in 2003 concluded such models lack adequate safety features

Advantages:

Infusion will not commence unless syringe driver if fitted correctly

No need to manually calculate rate of infusion

Does not allow tampering of the device once infusion commence

The device possess a long memory of previous administration records

Fulfills the safety requirements of MHRA
Disadvantages:

Design is more complex than the smiths medical models
Micrel MP Daily
Advantages:

It has several advantages over the graseby devices in that there is no boost facility,

once the infusion starts the rate cannot be altered unless the whole device is restarted again

Improved alarm system to warn when battery is low
Disadvantages:
-
There is still no alarm activation when the syringe is removed
-
confusion may still occur due to calibrating in length and not volume of fluid.
